TROUT FISHING IN KULLU AND GARHWAL
VALLEY
The unsurpassed natural beauty
of Kullu valley is legandary. The rivers of this enchanting valley
are fed by the numerous snow and spring fed streams which are teaming with
brown and rainbow trout.
These streams are located all around the valley in exquisitely beautiful
settings, heightening the charm of your angling adventure. What
could be more charming than casting a fly on the crystal clear streams
to catch the rising trout in such spectacular surrounding.The average
size you can land is about 11/2 lbs, but a three pounder may be
waiting for your favourite fly. Today with hatcheries stocking these
streams/rivers, angling is sheer pleasure. A dry fly is recommended
but a wet fly can give results at times. One can find the trouts
in these area during 1st April to 30th June and 15th September to
30th October.
DAY 1. DELHI / KULLU / MANALI : In time transfer
to airport to board flight for Kullu. Arrive and transfer to Manali.
Evening free. Overnight in hotel.
DAY 2. MANALI : Breakfast in hotel. Day return drive to
Rohtang pass / Snow points. Evening. Overnight in hotel.
DAY 3. MANALI / LARJI (1 1/2 hrs ) : Breakfast in
hotel. Drive to Vashisht hot water spring for hot bath. After lunch
drive to Larji ( 3320 m ). Arrive and check in at rest house and
overnight stay.
DAY 4. Breakfast at leisure. Drive to fishing boats
on Sainj and Lirhan rivers in two separate parties. AM/PM fishing.
Break time for hot lunch. Close to fishing on either river banks.
Drive to Sainj. Overnight at rest house.
DAY 5. FISHING After breakfast drive to Sainj and
Tibetan rivers again in two separate parties. AM /PM fishing.Break
time for hot lunch. Drive to Sainj / Benjar. Overnight
at rest house.
DAY 6. FISHING : AM - fishing. After lunch
drive to Shoja, one of the most beautiful and scenic spots in the
area. Overnight at rest house.
DAY 7. SHOJA / OVER JALORI PASS / SHIMLA
( 5 hrs) : After breakfast drive to Shimla over Jalori pass
(10500 ft) I. Enroute visit Narkanda and Kufri. Evening arrive Shimla.
Overnight Shimla.
DAY 8. Shimla Day at leisure to explore the Mall.
Overnight hotel.
DAY 9. Shimla I Dehradun ( 5 hrs ) : After breakfast
drive to Dehradun via Nahan and Ponta Sahib. Late afternoon arrive
and check in hotel for meals and overnight stay.
DAY 10. Dehradun / Rishikesh / Hunal village :
After breakfast drive to Hunal village via Rishikesh ( 80 kms).
Arrive and camp near the village. Overnight at camp.
DAY 11. FISHING : Breakfast at camp. Drive to fishing
beats. Full day fishing. Evening fish bar - be - cue with a chota
peg. Overnight at camp.
DAY 12. FISHING : After breakfast drive to fishing
beats. After lunch transfer to the exotic Ganga Banks riverside
resort. Overnight Ganga Banks.
DAY 13. GANGA BANKS : The second last day of the trip
is more exciting and interesting. After breakfast rafting till Rishikesh
on Ganges river. Hot lunch enroute. Evening visit the ghats and
temples. Meals and overnight at Ganga Banks
DAY 14. GANGA BANKS - DELHI : Drive to Delhi (5 112
hrs). the toughest fresh water fighting fish in the world weighing
up to 150 lbs. The Indian record is of 104 lbs. Mahaseer is considered
the tiger of the lndian rivers. Expert guides accompany you to the
best spots. Local carakel ( basket like boats) are often used by
anglers in their long battles with the fish. There are four varieties
to be found - golden, silver - grey, silver and black. Mahaseer
fly fishing in India has now been introduced on a professional basis
through Wanderlust Adventures.
Found only in the mighty rivers of the Indian sub - continent is
the Mahaseer.
FISHING: HIMALAYAN MAHASEER
DELHI /CORBETT /BOOM VIA TANAKPUR / CHOREGALIA /BANBASA/
BINSARI DELHI
Day 1. Depart 7am for Corbett arriving your jungle
resort by noon. Evening jungle safari on elephant back with guide
for wildlife viewing bird watching. Evening folk songs by the Kumaon
bag - pipers around campfire. Return via the waterfall for a swim
in the natural pool. Overnight Corbett.
Day 2. Full day elephant and jeep safari of Corbett
National Park. Overnight jungle resort.
Day 3. Drive to Boom ( 3 hrs ). Afternoon fishing
in the river Sharda. Overnight at forest lodge.
Day 4 & 5. Fishing by the river. Evening campfire
and fish bar - be - cue with chota peg. Overnight forest lodge.
Day 6. Move camp ( 2 hrs trek ). Afternoon fishing.
Overnight in tents near the elephant pools. Overnight camp or lodge.
Day 7 & 8. Fishing. Evening campfire and fish
bar - be - cue with chota Peg.
Day 9. Trek back to base camp ( 8 to 10 kms ). Overnight
at forest lodge.
Day 10. Drive to Pancheshwar ( 6 to 7 hrs ). Overnight
at forest lodge
Day 11 to 13. Fishing. Overnight in tents.
Day 14. Drive to Binsar (4 - 5 hrs). Overnight at
the mountain resort.
Day 15. Drive to Ramgarh / near Nainital /. Overnight
Ramgarh bungalow.
Day 16. Drive to Delhi - ( 7hrs ).
3. WESTERN RAM GANGA
DELHI/ CORBETT/MOHAN /MASI / MARCHULA/ CORBETT/ DELHI
Day 1- 2. Depart 7 am for Corbett arriving Corbett by noon.
Post lunch elephant safari with guide for wildlife viewing / bird
watching. Overnight jungle lodge.
Day 3. Full day jeep and elephant safari of Corbett
National Park. Overnight Corbett.
Day 4. Drive to Mohan ( 2 hrs). Afternoon fishing.
Overnight in camping tents.
Day 5. Morning depart for fishing spot. Full day fishing.
Evening cultural programme around a bonfire in the wilderness. Overnight
tents.
Day 6. Full day fishing. Evening campfire and fish
barbecue with 'chota peg'. Overnight camp.
Day 7. Depart for Masi. Full day fishing up and down
stream. Overnight tents jungle lodge.
Day 8. Depart for Marchula. Afternoon fishing. Overnight
tents.
Day 9. Full day fishing. Evening camp fire Overnight tents
Day 10. Morning free for nature trek.
Day 11. Drive back to Delhi
