The area has planted tree species mostly Eucalyptus and Acacia and other species like Azadirachta Indica, Zizyphus/ Spp. Etc. The community of plants in and around the lake provides the nesting facilities to the birds. A large variety of avian visitors come to lake during winter. Owing to agricultural surroundings and freedom from other disturbance, the lake is a resting place for many birds which stay for the night and fly off for feeding to the agricultural fields during the day.

More than 190 species of birds, migratory as well as local, visit this lake during winter season (Nov. to Mar.). For several years now the lake has been attracting an outstanding population of water fowl, particularly in winter when their concentration becomes really impressive. About 10,000 ducks can be seen in December to Feb, besides, thousands of water birds and waders, who adopt this lake as their winter home.
