LADAKH

Wanderlust is proud to be the first agency to announce some exciting new tours, which will include these fascinating "Never Before" locations, sites and adventure cum culture opportunities. Soaking in the warmth of Panaramic hotsprings in the Nubra Valley, crossing over Khardungla (18,350 feet) the highest motorable pass in the world, along the legendary silk route, on the way to Siachen, the longest glacier outside the polar regions.

Driving up to the Pangong Tso, a 150 km long lake at 14,000 feet, observing rare wildlife and intriguing rock carvings en-route; experiencing the ever changing moods of the lake from glorious down to spectacular sunsets. Observing the lifestyle of the remote village of Karzok and the nomadic Changa shepherds on the banks of the crystal clear, pearl shaped Tso Moriri lake, where the Barheaded geese and the Great Crested grebes breed; en-route staying at Chumathang and bathing in the medicated waters of its hotsprings.

Visiting ancient tribal villages in the Indus valley, downstream from Khalsi, here the colourful Drokpas live, whose ethnic origin is variously attributed to Aryan, Greek and Jew ancestors. These tours of course include the ever popular locations like, Leh, Stok, Thikse, Hemis, Chemrey, Thak, Stakna, Spituk, Phayang, Bazgo, Likir, Alchi, Timisgam and Lamayuru.

Conducting the tours will be experienced group leaders who have travelled in this remote region extensively and have good knowledge and understanding of this unique destination. We can also arrange for safaris on ponies, yaks, twin humped Bactrian camels, white water rafting, trekking and tours to the isolated unspoiled Zanskar valley, as add ons.
